Yes, it’s an election year…

From time to time we are asked to investigate something “political” and there  is irony in asking us to do that, if you think about it.

As true with reporting of ANY wrongdoing, unless someone is willing to make a sworn statement or has a recording, we have no way to validate hearsay unless we break in and sift through file cabinets, which is not going to happen.

Otherwise, we print statements and quotes from trusted sources including our coroner, police departments, elected officials and many others without question. After those statements are made, the public always has the option to go directly to them with further questions or concerns. This is how it’s been done literally since the inception of news reporting and we’re not about to try to change that now.
