Kansas police pursuit ends in Barton County

On August 9th, 2022 Deputies with the Barton County Sheriff's Office were requested to assist Crawford County Sheriff's Office in a pursuit that was entering Missouri.

Deputies were advised a short time later, Crawford Deputies had a male stopped in Missouri and detained. 

Barton Deputies arrive on scene and conducted an investigation and located a white powdery substance he suspect was in possession of at the time of the arrest.

The suspect was arrested and placed on a 24hr hold for investigation. The suspected narcotics were later field tested and weighed. The suspected narcotics weighed 202grams (7 1/8oz) and tested positive for Cocaine and Fentanyl.

On August 10th, 2022 the Barton County Prosecutor, Michael Smalley filed charges on Justin Lapping (47) of Carthage, Mo. for Trafficking Drugs 1st Degree. A warrant was issued with a NO BOND.

On August 17th, 2022 Justin Lapping was Federally indicted after the case was turned over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
