Donald “Double T” Eugene King, 85, retired Beech Aircraft employee, passed from this life into the Lord’s care, on Monday, August 15, 2022, with Janice, his wife of 49 years, by his side.
Donald was born and raised in Rich Hill, Missouri and relocated to Wichita in the late 1950’s. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, David and Veldo King and by a daughter, Diana Jean King, sister Betty Gilkey and brother William King.
He is survived by his wife Janice “Gracie” and their children, Donna (Cleveland) Beverage of Wichita, David (Chandra) King of Midwest City, OK, Loren “Jimmy” (Johna) King of Carl Junction, MO, Dana (Alvin) Hess of Wichita and Amy (Dave) King-Brandt of Wichita. Don was blessed to have 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Double T was one in a million with a sense of humor that was infectious and was the life of the party. His kids and grandkids all looked forward to having him call and sing Happy Birthday to them in his own “unique style.” His great loves were his wife and family, his Boxer dog Jesse and old-time country music.
He was a CB/Ham radio operator for over 50 years. This passion led to many friendships both near and far. KB0MOE has forever gone “Silent Key.” Donald had a strong faith and loved the Lord. He was a man of character, a faithful son, husband, dad, father-in-law, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle and friend.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2022, at Hope Community Church, 1831 E. 21st Street, Andover, KS 67002. In lieu of flowers the family has established a memorial with:
