James Richard Shinn, age 90, of Osceola, Missouri passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on January 30, 1932 in Cross Timbers, Missouri, the son of Robert H. Shinn and Mildred A. (Miller) Shinn.
Richard was saved at age 19, during a revival at South New Home Missionary Baptist Church. After being baptized and joining the church, he was later ordained as a Deacon at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church and served as a Deacon at L.P. Union Missionary Baptist Church where he was a current member.
He attended Hazel Valley Grade School and was a 1949 graduate of Warsaw High School.
On March 9, 1952, he was united in marriage to Ina Evalene Tucker. Richard began his journey farming on the Webb Place in 1953. In 1964, he and Evalene purchased their current farm, where he continued his life-long dream. He and Evalene raised their 4 children on the farm. Richard loved God and his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, making sorghum, farming, John Deere tractors and visiting with family and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a sister, his daughter, Debbie Nance and a grandson, Derek Shinn.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Evalene Shinn, three children; Donna Hart (Bill), Jim Shinn (Terri) and Bill Shinn (Melanie), 11 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren. Extended families; Don and Kathy Anstaett family, Ted Hackett family and Gary Martinez family, numerous other relatives and friends.
The family extends a special “thank you” to Kathy Anstaett for all the love and support she has given thru the years.
Memorial Services for James Richard Shinn will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 26, 2022 at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri with Pastor Mark Beyer officiating. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.
