Owen Jesse Westendorf, 17, a resident of Raymore, Missouri, peacefully passed with his family and friends by his side, Tuesday, August 9, 2022. Owen was born Thursday, March 10, 2005, to Chad and Rachel (Reed) Westendorf, in Overland Park, Kansas.
Owen lived life to the fullest, beginning each day radiating positive energy to his family. His passion was people; always eager to lend a hand. He loved family vacations to visit extended family in South Dakota. He also enjoyed snow skiing in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Utah, as well as camping, water sports, canoeing and trips to Branson. Working on his truck with close friends brought him so much happiness. His favorite times were spent driving fast and spinning tires. Owen’s obsession for trucks and cars and machinery began as a toddler, playing in the dirt from sun-up to sun-down. Owen’s dad coached his little league recreational baseball team, the Beavers, and competitive baseball team, the Dare Devils. While in middle school, he was a wrestler and enjoyed running cross country and track. He spent hours on his scooter and riding his bicycle at skate parks. As he grew older, he navigated mountain bike trails with his mom and friend, Diesel.
Owen was home-schooled by his mom beginning in kindergarten up through 6th grade. He continued his education in the Raymore-Peculiar School District.
Owen worked for his dad and uncle's family business - Gravity Concrete - with four of his siblings and his friend, Ashton. His love of working on trucks and cars, created his desire to pursue a career as a diesel mechanic. Beginning that career, he was working at O'Reilly Auto Parts, in Raymore. Additionally, he enjoyed his time working at Jose Peppers with Diesel, his friend.
