Obituary - Ruby Ann Winslow

Ruby “Ann” Winslow, age 79, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 31, 2022, surrounded by her loving children and listening to her favorite songs.

At this time a Memorial Service with date and time to be determined is being planned.

Ann was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 30, 1943, to Leon Samuel McClellan and Ruby Lee (Fields) McClellan. After graduating McGehee high school in south central Arkansas, Ann continued her education receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Blue Mountain College, Blue Mountain, Mississippi. Ann married Dan Winslow, a Staff Sergeant at the time in the U.S. Airforce in Jacksonville, Arkansas in 1967 after meeting on a blind date.

They were together for 43 years raising their 2 children and menagerie of animals until Dan’s death in 2013. In life, Ann never met a stranger and was always one to volunteer her time, and her family’s time, to others whether it was in the community as a Girl Scout leader and camp caretaker or making sure her neighbors or friends were clothed and fed. Music was her passion and she always had it playing whether in the car or at home, anything from Classical to R & B.

Later in life right before losing her husband, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, but it never took her affectionate and lively spirit which lives in the heart of all that knew and mourn her.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Samuel, and Ruby Lee McClellan; husband Daniel Lee Winslow; sister, Mary Glenn Sprain; and two brothers Robert Leon McClellan and Alvin Franklin McClellan.

She is survived by her son, Daniel “Danny” Lee Winslow II (Tess Maus); daughter, Melinda “Mendi” Winslow (Jason Heidbreder); brother Donald Ray McClellan; sister, Linda Susan Shrader (Bill Shrader); and two grandchildren, Daniel “Trey” Lee Winslow III and Georgia Grace Winslow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to The Girl Scouts of the Kansas Heartland, www.kansasgirlscouts.org or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, www.alzfdn.org/support-us/donate/.
