Vesta, daughter of Vern and Elnora (Shoop) Dines, was born July 25, 1930, near Johnson City, Missouri, following her twin sister, Velda Marie Dines. The family moved to a farm east of Passaic in March 1943. Vesta graduated from Butler High School in 1948. She served as an officer in the local FHA chapter and as State Historian. She was awarded the DAR Citizenship Award and was chosen as the outstanding student in Home Economics. After graduation, she worked at J.C. Penny in Butler. Kenneth Limpus and Vesta Dines were married on April 13, 1949 in Butler, Missouri. After living near Virginia, Missouri, for two and a half years, they moved to the Limpus family farm west of Archie in December 1951. In August 1969, they moved to a home in Archie.
Vesta worked at home, cooking, cleaning, canning, sewing, child care, and all the other tasks that needed to be done to make a comfortable home for her family. When they opened the D-Li-My Restaurant in November 1968, she began working there to get it started. She was still working there when they sold the restaurant in 1981. Later, she worked at Family Center from 1985 until she retired in 2009.
Vesta and Kenneth joined the Archie Christian Church in 1953 and were active there until they moved their membership to the Adrian Christian Church in 1965. She taught a children’s Sunday School class.
Vesta excelled in cooking, sewing and interior decoration. She used her skills to the benefit of her family, church and community. Friends were impressed with her construction skills when she built a shed for storage, a toybox/desk for the boys and doll furniture for Gayle. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She appreciated club meetings and outings with fellow members of the Modern Priscilla Club.
