William Louis Walkington of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on August 25, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. We will celebrate Bill’s life with a visitation at Cullen Funeral Home (Raymore, MO) on Saturday, August 27th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

A graveside service with military honors will follow at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Unleashed Pet Rescue and Adoption, where Bill found his best dog friend, Danny Boy.

Bill was born on October 20, 1938, in Marshall, Missouri. Bill started out as a talented cabinet maker and spent most of his career as a highly respected asphalt engineer. He was known as an expert in the asphalt industry, traveling to repair and advise plants across North America, and invented several successful patents. Bill served proudly in the Army National Guard, retiring after 22 years at the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 1960, Bill married the love of his life, Joyce Ann, and their 56 years of marriage was a source of joy and a model for others in their lives. They were blessed with a son, Lee. Together, Bill and Joyce enjoyed country life, started small farms twice, remodeled several houses, and took road and train trips across the country. Bill had a talent for fixing up farm equipment and cars and spent much of his time working in his shop. He loved nothing more than spending a sunny day at a tractor show, or letting his adventurous spirit run wild dreaming up new mechanical inventions.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann, parents Louis Walkington and Marie Fitzgerald, brother Robert Walkington, and nephew Michael Walkington. He is survived by his son Lee Walkington (Ginny); niece and daughter of his heart Kelly Sleeper-Keegan (Patrick); sisters-in-law Sharon Johnson and Marty Walkington; brother-in-law Larry Lamb (Debbie); nephews and nieces Bryan Sleeper, Gina Staus (Mike), Shane Walkington (Kathy), Kevin Tunis (LaVera), Gay Otten (Mark), and Robert Risner (Marla); great-nephews Coty Sleeper (Megan) and Lane Sleeper; and honorary grandchildren Kendall and Brendan Keegan, Kaitlyn, Kensley and Karleigh Sleeper, Ariana Hardy and Emmani Loyd.
