Obituary - Jimmy Edward Winslow

Jimmy Edward Winslow, age 74, Peculiar, Missouri, passed away peacefully at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg on September 13, 2022.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Cullen Funeral Home 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. followed immediately by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m.

Jimmy was born on January 31, 1948 in Hanford, California to James Henry Winslow and Lanora Jean Whitehead. After graduating high school and attending some college, Jim served his country in the United States Marine Corp. for three years as a Tank Commander where he attained the rank of Sergeant and received many medals including a Purple Heart. On June 24, 1995 he married his loving wife, Mari Ann, and together they blended their families and shared love for their six children, James, David, Joshua, K. Kyle, Trevor, and Kendall. Jim supported his family by working for General Motors for 30 years and was a lifelong member of the VFW in Belton and a member of Abundant Life church.

To know Jim, you would undoubtedly hear him talking about his kids and grandkids. He loved coaching, supporting, and cheering his kids and grandkids in their baseball, basketball, softball, soccer, football, volleyball, wrestling, cross-country, archery, dance recitals, and concerts. Jim also loved camping, fishing, and hunting, especially when he did it with his kids and grandkids. He loved the many family gatherings where chaos ensued in a full house with full hearts and full bellies.

Jim’s faith in Christ was stronger than ever in his later years. God took over the final portion of Papa Jim’s difficult journey, preparing him for His overwhelming love eternally.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lanora Winslow.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mari Ann Winslow, of 27 years; six children: James Winslow (Monica), David Winslow (Shayla), Joshua Winslow (Amanda), K. Kyle Burke (Alison), Trevor Burke, and Kendall Burke (Chloe); 14 grandchildren: Austin, Codi, Coleman (Jessica), Shelby, Jacob, Andrew, Dakota, Cheyenne, Kailee, Gavin, Avalee, Savannah, Sydney, and Briget; and 3 great-grandchildren: Gabriella, Aubrey, and Melanie.
