Obituary - Linda Marie Vassar

Linda Marie (Jones) Vassar, 75, Harrisonville, MO, took her last breath after a brief but hard battle with cancer, on Friday, September 2, 2022 at Lee's Summit Medical Center in Lee's Summit, MO. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Garden City Cemetery in Garden City, MO, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Linda was born in Reeds Spring, MO on March 29, 1947 to Lloyd and Alberta Jones. Linda and her family would later move to Kansas City, KS where she would attend church and teach Sunday school and graduated from Wyandotte High School. It was when Linda was working at Paul's Drive-In that she would meet Robert Vassar, a story that has been told to her children and grandchildren many, many times.

Robert and Linda were married on October 27, 1967 and spent 51 years together raising 4 sons, hundreds of head of cattle and acres and acres of produce. Linda worked many jobs throughout her life; like the bank where she financed and purchased her first car, the IRS, along with helping Bob and the boys manage the farm and the produce stands. But, her most important job was spending her years raising her boys, and later on providing 100% care for Bob in his last years of life. Linda's family was her pride and joy. Well, right next to her love for Elvis Presley.

Linda was an amazing woman that loved the simple things in life, like the ring of a penny slot machine at the casino, a trip to the thrift store, purses, anything in the color pink, and her little dog, Lucy. Linda had a smile that would brighten up the day of anyone that she met.

Linda was proceeded in death by her husband Robert, sister Dottie, and parents Lloyd and Alberta. She is survived by numerous family members, including her sister, Gerdie (Ray); her brother, Warren; her four sons: Tracy (Kristina), Tim, Ted (Shawna), and Travis (Joshalynn); as well as eleven grandchildren: Preston, Justin, Mollee, Jacob, Meadow, Tucker, Kimber, Gunner, Jax, Tallon and Kip, and three great-grandchildren: Stetson, Renlee and Vaylin.
