Independence man pleads not guilty in Cass County Court

On Wednesday October 12th 24 year old Trent D. Mitchell of Independence, Missouri pleaded not guilty in Cass County Court to Driving while Intoxicated and causing the death of a highway worker on I-49 in Cass County last Saturday.

Mr. Mitchell also is charged with 1.) Involuntary manslaughter 2.) Leaving the scene of a accident 3.) Operating a motor vehicle in a reckless manner 4.) Aggravated endangerment of a highway worker.

Mr. Mitchell was drunk when he struck and killed 35 year old Jonathon K. Wilson of Kansas City, Missouri. After striking Wilson he fled the scene of the accident on foot. 

Trent D. Mitchell will remain in the Cass County Jail on a $250,000 cash only bond. He will be back in court at 9:00 a.m. on November 10th.
