Obituary - Alma E. Rice

Alma E. Rice, age 90, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. 

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Cullen Funeral Home. Alma will be laid to rest at Brooking Cemetery in Raytown, Missouri.

Alma was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 14, 1931 to Henry S. Ragsdale and Arkie E. (Motley). After graduating high school, Alma worked as a secretary for the United States Air Force SAC. Alma was joined in marriage with her late husband, Charles E. Rice in Harrisonville, Missouri in August of 1972. In life Alma was a woman of Baptist faith and was very active in her church. She was also extremely proud of her Cherokee Nation heritage. Alma was a member of Eastern Star, an author, enjoyed quilting, genealogy, square dancing, baking and was talented in playing many instruments.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Arkie Ragsdale; husband, Charles E. Rice; daughter, Rebecca Coycault; son, David Hamel; sister, Alica Brockway; and sister-in-law, Leona Ragsdale.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Hamel; brother, Sherman Ragsdale; six grandchildren, Chris Evans (Jill), Carrie Caruthers, Jacob Faltynowski (Christine), Sarah Watson, Janelle Hernandez, and Sean Hamel; fifteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
