State Farm Student Athlete of the week

We are excited to announce this week’s State Farm Student Athlete of the week from Archie Senior, Aubree Smith. Aubree plays for the varsity volleyball lady Whirlwinds. She was nominated by her head coach Miranda Bridges.

Coach Bridges stated “Aubree is a leader and is willing to help on and off the court. She takes the new and younger players and motivates and encourages them to be better and do better. Every task I give Aubree she completes to the max of her ability. This dedication is also reflected in Aubree’s classwork and other extra curricular activities.” We asked Aubree what are some goals you are wanting to accomplish before your senior season is over. She stated “she would like win districts and go far in the state tournament.

She would also like to get her 500th kill.” We asked her what advice she has for younger kids looking to pursue athletics and she stated “work hard, it will pay off and be shown. Just have fun.” We also asked her why she is so passionate about playing sports. She stated “it’s fun and she likes to compete and do her best. She likes the connection she makes with her teammates and it’s like being a part of a family.” When we asked Aubree what it takes to be an elite athlete she stated “it takes being a good leader and making sacrifices for your team. It’s not just about you. You have to reflect your leadership on your team and show you care about your team and want to be your best for them.” Aubree’s plans after high school are to attend college and study architectural engineering.

It was a pleasure speaking with Aubree and we wish her and the Lady Whirlwinds the best of luck at districts at Rich Hill where they are seeded first.
