Update: Arrest made in fatal hit and run accident that killed a construction worker in Cass County

On October 8th around 6:53 p.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 24 year old Trent D. Mitchell of Independence, Missouri following the Saturday morning hit-and-run that killed a construction worker in Cass County.

Mr, Mitchell is charged with 1.) Felony leaving scene of motor vehicle accident 2.) Felony driving while intoxicated.

He was also charged with 3.) Careless and imprudent driving involving accident 4.)Endangerment of a highway worker 5.) No seatbelt 6.) No Insurance 7.) Involuntary Manslaughter. 

The arrest comes after 35-year-old Jonathon Wilson of Kansas City, Missouri, was killed early Saturday morning in a crash on northbound I-49 at 169.6 mile marker in Cass County. 

Mr. Mitchell struck Wilson with a 2010 Ford F-150 and fled the scene on foot from this accident.
