Jay L. Renfro, age 86, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 MO-150, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64082. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Jay will then be laid to rest at Raymore Cemetery, Raymore, Missouri.
Jay was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on October 30, 1936 to Forrest and Lucia (Yates) Renfro. Jay graduated high school and honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. In 1959, he was joined in marriage with his wife, Mary (Camden). Their union was blessed with three children, Joe, Cathy, and Jay. In life Jay was very passionate about music as he played the guitar and banjo, as well as his yardwork and gardening, and traveling as much as possible with his wife, Mary. For many years, Jay, along within Mary, owned and operated Hardware Stores. In 1983, Jay, Mary, and their son, Jay began Raymore Hardware. Jay was a man of Catholic faith and over the past fourteen years, was a parishioner at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty three years, Mary Jane Camden Renfro; three children, Joe Renfro (Kris), Cathy Renfro (Chuck Kestner), and Jay Renfro (Bev); sister, Gwendolyn Smith; four grandchildren, Dale Renfro, Jamie Conger (Patrick), Jack Renfro, and Tommy Renfro; as well as two great grandchildren, Hudson and Riley Conger.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given online to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org/kansascity or to Holy Spirit Catholic Church building fund. In the memo of the check, please indicated in memory of Jay Renfro for the building fund.
