Dorothy Neoma Stevens, 96, of Nevada, Missouri, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Neoma was born on February 25, 1926, to Malcolm and Edith Slayden in Tuckerman, Arkansas.
Neoma grew up and spent her younger years in North Central Arkansas. She met Edward Stevens at the Dobbins’ General Store in Allison, Arkansas. Their courtship started on the porch swing of the General Store and they were married a short time later on June 15, 1948. To this union of 62 years, they were blessed with two sons, Lance and Chris Stevens.
Neoma was a faithful woman who loved the Lord with all of her heart. She spent many hours reading the Bible, praying, and attending church services.
Neoma was a homemaker, devoting her life to her husband, two sons, and grandchildren. Her sons and grandchildren remember her as being someone who was supportive, encouraging, and always there for them. Neoma loved and enjoyed shopping, walking, and cooking.
Those who knew her will agree she was faithful, loving, caring, ornery, loyal and had an amazing sense of humor.
Neoma is survived by her sons Lance Stevens and wife Patty of Duluth, Minnesota and Chris Stevens of Mountain View, Arkansas; grandchildren Deidre Stevens, Lance Stevens Jr. (Kelsey), Aaron Stevens, Deandra Owen (Chase), Trevor Stevens (Josie), and Delista Craft (Kris); great-grandchildren Dalton Bruce (Caitlin), Hadley Bruce, Landon Stevens, Wyatt Stevens, Harper Stevens, Kyrsten Owen, Graham Owen, Gracie Barker, Matthew Barker, and Hayden Stevens; great-great-grandson Bexon Bovard-Bruce; sister Juanita Trail, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Stevens, brothers Orville Slayden, W.S. Dixon, Coney Dixon, and sister Barbara Reynolds.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, November 11, at 2 p.m. at Moore Cemetery in Nevada, Missouri; Pastor Jeff Owen officiating. Contributions are suggested to Nevada R-5 Scholarship Foundation ℅ Edward and Neoma Stevens.
