State Farm Student Athlete of the week Adrian Junior Hunter Bailey

We are thrilled to announce this week’s State Farm Student Athlete of the week, junior Hunter Bailey from Adrian.

Hunter plays running back and safety for the Adrian Blackhawks. Hunter was nominated by his head coach Matt Davis after claiming the District Title from their win last week against the Butler Bears.

We asked Hunter what makes you a great athlete and has helped him get to the point he's at now? He stated, “it takes a lot of hard work. You have to put effort in during the season and most importantly during off-season.

Also, lifting weights has really helped me.” Then we asked Hunter what the toughest aspect of being an athlete was. He quickly responded with, "time management. You have practice, games, school, and homework. Learning how to balance it all is difficult but important." We asked him to state what it takes to be an elite athlete. He replied with, "being able to show you work hard all of the time.

Putting work in during the off-season is super important. Show your teammates you are willing to work hard so they'll view you better. Also, leading by example, if you are working hard your teammates will." Finally, we asked Hunter if he had anything to say before the big game tomorrow. He said, "we just have to go play as a team. If we come out ready to play everything will fall into place." The Adrian Blackhawks (10-2) will compete against the Marionville Comets (12-0) tomorrow in the quarterfinal game. We wish them the best of luck!
