Because we are human and we all want to know:
From time to time you've seen me post looking for relatives for a deceased person. That has happened more than normal lately.
In the most recent case of Mr. Sharp, it is believed he has outlived any surviving relatives. He is not abandoned, however. He had the very good fortune to have a group of friends who care very much about him and have asked to assume responsibility.
In Missouri, this is allowed. In these cases, the Coroner will search for next-of-kin relatives but if none are found, or none are willing to take charge (which happens sometimes in families), the law provides that a friend may take charge if they are willing. (That's the short version of a very long process, but it can occur).
It's not every day I get to publish stories that have a happy ending, so I wanted to take this opportunity.
Thanks to all who reached out with information in the search.
