She accepted Christ at age 12 at First Baptist Church of Clinton and moved her membership to Northeast Baptist Church in 1940. She remained a faithful member until her death. Dixie taught Sunday School and was an active leader and member of several different church committees.

In 1955 Dixie was united in marriage to Carlos Reese. They were blessed with two daughters, Connie (Reese) Meisner and Rhonda Joyce Reese.

In 1973 Dixie and Bob Lowe married. They had a full life together until a traffic accident took Bob's life in 1985. Dixie worked with her husband Bob delivering the KC Star and the Daily Democrat newspapers. Dixie also worked at St. Luke's Medical and Golden Valley Daycare for several years loving and spoiling her classes through the years. It was a joy for her to work and love the little ones and was "Grandma Dixie" to all ages. It was not merely a job to her; it was pure joy.

In 1988 Dixie married Jack Scott and they were happily married until cancer claimed his life in 1999.

Dixie was always happy and content to be home with family and friends.
