State Farm Student Athlete of the week winter sports Butler Senior Brendin Patrick

We are so excited to announce our first winter sports State Farm student athlete of the week senior, Brendin Patrick. Brendin wrestles in the 150 weight class this year for the Butler Bears. He was nominated by his Head Coach Dale Long.

Last weekend Brendin got first at the Ray Stockdale Invitational. When we asked Brendin what strengths he believed made him a great athlete he stated, "I work really hard and it's all about having a good work ethic.

I've competed in sports from a young age and I've learned a lot. I've been working at it for a long time and it's paying off. Wrestling takes time and effort, you get out what you put in with this sport." We then asked him what he wanted to accomplish this year.

Brendin told us, "I want to be the first ever two time state champion in Butler history. I also want to remain undefeated while doing so and break the all time winning record." Wrestling is a mentally and physically challenging sport.

When we asked Brendin how he stayed motivated and focused during these tough times he said, “I set myself goals. These goals are there, but I have to put effort into them to and accomplish them. Goals are wishes until you do it.

Also, wrestling makes me be discipline. I have to be accountable for what I eat and what I do.” Brendin plans to obtain is bachelors in business or finance. We wish you the best of luck on your season Brendin!
