Update: Multiple vehicle accident involving snow plow south of Rich Hill

On December 22nd around 11:53 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Bates County along with Bates County Sheriff's Deputies, Bates County EMS and the Rich Hill Fire Department responded to a multiple vehicle accident in the northbound lanes of I-49 near mile marker 118.4 south of Rich Hill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the northbound 2022 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 41 year old Samuel C. Patterson of Independence, Missouri struck the rear of the 2010 International snow plow truck driven by 58 year old Dennis L. Allen of Moundville, Missouri causing the plow truck to strike the 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 40 year old Johnathan E. Huss of Marionville, Missouri. 

A 2022 Freightliner driven by 34 year old Julien G. Dawson of Chicago, Illinois struck the Malibu and the plow truck before traveling off the roadway striking a fence and tree. A 2020 Mack Truck driven by 31 year old Kyle J. Dunmire of Duluth, Minnesota struck the Malibu as it was disabled in the roadway.

Julien G. Dawson, Samuel C. Patterson and a passenger in his vehicle 45 year old James V. Patterson of Independence, Missouri all sustained minor injuries. All three were transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
