Maxine Farr, 92, Harrisonville, MO, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side on Thursday, January 5, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the Atkinson Funeral Home in Harrisonville with visitation from 10:00-11:00. Burial will be in Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice.

Maxine was born September 27, 1930 in West Line, MO, a daughter of Robert Claude and Gladys Lucille (Smith) Richardson. Her years growing up in West Line were some of her fondest memories. She loved to tell stories about the people and events of those years. She was united in marriage to Bob Farr on November 28, 1948 at the First Christian Church in Harrisonville, where they remained members the rest of their lives. Maxine had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in the choir, as well as, duets and other special music. Throughout their 72 years of marriage, they made their home in Harrisonville and Freeman, with strong ties to both communities. They continued to be involved with friends from their youth, The Gang.

Maxine was a member of the Domestic Dames women’s club where she enjoyed monthly gatherings and other activities with her friends. A couples canasta club formed from this group and also met once a month. Over 50 years of fun and friendship were shared with these groups. There was nothing, however, that brought Maxine more joy than her family, and once she loved you, you were family. Her happiest moments were sitting down at her table to serve a meal, she had prepared, to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; and a sister, Leah Lacy. She is survived by her children: Debbee Long, Peculiar, MO; Robert (Jacqueline) Farr, Warsaw, MO; and Amy (Craig) Newman, North Richland Hills, TX; five grandchildren: Brooke, Christopher, Tessa, Lindsey, Michael; 11 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
