Fort Scott Kansas Fire Department has been very busy

FSFD has been very busy over the last 24 hours. 2 structure fires.

Last night the FSFD was dispatched to a report of a house on fire on the west side of town.

First arriving unit established command and advised incoming units that they had a fully involved structure fire and would be making a defensive attack.

Fire crews arrived on scene and immediately began extinguishment. At this time our main priority was conservation and not allowing the fire to spread to adjacent houses.

Due to the high flame and heat the engine companies established a hydrant and began dousing the fire with deck guns and hand lines. Tower 1 arrived on scene and we were able to get an aerial assault on the 2 story fire and knock it down.

Crews remained on scene searching for hotspots and extinguishing them. Due to the severity of the fire the structure is unsafe.

The fire is currently under investigation by FSFD’s investigation unit. Thank you to FSPD, BBSO, Bourbon county EMS for your assistance on this fire.
