From the desk of Bates County Coroner Greg Mullinax

My priority as Coroner is to conduct investigations which yield the clear and accurate cause and manner of death - for the law enforcement agencies and families of decedents who depend on me to do that.

A major component of that is scene investigation. It is often crucial to determining the manner of death.

That's why I was pleased when Adrian Fire invited me to conduct a scene preservation training last evening. They invited neighboring agencies and among those in attendance were Drexel Fire and Central Cass FPD, and Adrian Police.

Trainings like these are proven to help in death investigations. With first responders getting a chance to ask questions and discuss scenarios, we all come away better prepared.

It was time well spent. Thanks to Chief Dizney for coordinating, and all the volunteers who took time out of their evening.
