Nellie was raised in Pleasant Hill. Her senior year of high school she moved to Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1951. Primarily a homemaker, in her later years Nellie worked at Cotty College and Community Outreach. She volunteered for many years with the Auxiliary of the Nevada Regional Medical Center. In addition, she was an active member of Elks Doe for many years, the Glory Choir at First Baptist Church, and served as a Nevada Housing Authority Board Member. Nellie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada.
Nellie is survived by two sons, Tim Boyd, Nevada, MO, and Michael Boyd (Leslie), Kansas City, KS; three nieces, Diane Zeman (John), Olathe, Amy Bricker-Scott (Terry), Raytown, MO, and Lilas Scott (Kenneth), Liberty, MO. In addition to her husband Lloyd, she was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Willard Bricker.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Dr. Bill Cox officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 1- 2:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service.
