Suspect Arrested Following Manhunt near Cleveland

Cass Co, Cleveland MO – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 9:30 this morning from a homeowner in the area of 245th and S. Prospect reporting a suspicious vehicle and a male subject running from a barn on their property.

Deputies arrived in the area and determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Bates County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. Deputies set up a perimeter of the area and began a search with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s Office UAVs. The Sheriff’s Office issued an Everbridge call to residents in the area advising them of the ongoing operation. About 11:00am an area resident called 9-1-1 and reported a suspicious person attempting to steal a vehicle at a neighbor’s residence.

Deputies responded and attempted to stop the subject in a black Dodge truck attempting to leave a house in the area of 231st and Craycraft Rd. The driver fled from deputies in the vehicle before crashing and running on foot. He was arrested moments later by MSHP troopers and deputies. Bates County Sheriff K9’s and a detective assisted with searching for property and processing the stolen vehicle for evidence.

The subject, Dylan S. Lancaster, 25, Kansas City was transported to the Cass County Jail where he is being held on several active warrants and pending charges.

“This is not our first encounter with Dylan Lancaster. Lancaster was convicted in 2021 for resisting arrest and arrested again in December 2022 following a pursuit involving deputies with the Miami County Kansas and Cass County Sheriff’s Office. He received a signature bond in that case and then failed to appear in court last month.

Today over a dozen law enforcement officers from 3 agencies spent hours investigating, searching and apprehending this individual. We are thankful for our law enforcement partners and watchful citizens. We are hopeful that this subject receives the proper attention from the judicial system,” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.

Charges are pending related to today's incident. Dylan S. Lancaster, 25, Kansas City is currently being held on the following active warrants:

Failure to Appear Resisting Arrest – Cass County – Bond $300.00
