Update: One dead after Amtrak train crashes with semi-truck in Cass County

On February 7th around 9:24 a.m. the Missouri State Highway Patrol in Cass County along with Cass County Sheriff's Deputies, Union Pacific Police Department, Pleasant Hill Fire and EMS, Pleasant Hill Police Department and Amtrak Police Department responded to a semi- truck that collided with a train in rural Pleasant Hill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident happened at a uncontrolled crossing near Hereford Road just south of Smart Road when the northbound 2022 Ford FCO Fed Ex Delivery truck driven by 34 year old Patrick E. Metz of Kansas City, Missouri failed to stop at the rail road crossing and traveled into the path and was struck by a eastbound Amtrak Train which was carrying 35 passengers.

Mr. Metz was pronounced dead at the scene of this accident and no one on the Amtrak train was injured.
